Bu araştırmada televizyon dizilerinin tarih bilinci üzerine etkileri (Muhteşem Yüzyıl Dizisi örneği) araştırılmıştır. Araştırma tarama modelinde olup nicel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmış, Bartın ili merkez ilçede bulunan 4 ortaokulun 8. sınıf öğrencileri araştırmanın çalışma grubunu oluşturmuştur. Araştırmaya katılan toplam 227 öğrencinin %53.7 si kız, %46.3’ü erkektir. Çalışmada, öncelikle alanyazın incelenmiş ve anket formu oluşturmak amacıyla madde havuzu oluşturulmuştur. Madde havuzunun oluşturulmasında Gökkaya (2001) tarafından hazırlanan ‘Sosyal Bilgiler Eğitimi Bölümü Öğrencilerinin (Lisans) Tarih Bilinci Üzerine Bir Anket Değerlendirmesi’ adlı çalışma temel alınmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, tarihi mekânlardan sonra öğrencilerin en keyif aldıkları sunum şeklinin tarihi filmler olduğu görülmüş, ayrıca öğrencilerin tarihi filmlere olan güveninin fazla olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ancak bu dizinin, öğrenciler açısından pek olumlu bir anlam ifade etmediği, dizide Osmanlı Devleti’nin ve Kanuni Sultan Süleyman’ın yeterince iyi yansıtılmadığı öğrenciler tarafından belirtilmiştir.
