Abstract:

Abstract The different forms of organization of the Cuban space, and the way in which agriculture reflected the dominant modes of production in different historical stages, left a mark on the distribution and characteristics of the rural population in Cuba. From this fact, there have been numerous trends and processes that have influenced the settlement process in Cuba, and especially in rural areas. As a consequence, the forms of assimilation of the population and the economic activities in these have also been differentiated, as well as their evolution and spatiotemporal characteristics. On the other hand, Cuba is a country that is characterized by describing a demographic behavior that reveals attributes similar to those of developed countries and characterized by a marked homogeneity throughout the national territory. However, it is increasingly essential to understand how space works and, as a relevant aspect, its differentiation. An example is the classic differences between the urban and the rural, a source of traditional disparities, especially in terms of population characteristics.
