Abstract:

Screen addiction in children is a very common problem today, and teachers are the people who spend the most time with children after families. In this context, it is important to research and increase awareness of the views of the teachers candidates to the publications on the screen as future teachers. In this context, the study aims to reveal the opinions of class teacher candidates on the impact of cartoons on the development of children. In accordance with this objective, discussions were conducted with the teachers candidates in accordance with the phenomological design of the quality research methods. The obtained data was first classified as positive gains and negative substances with the content analysis technique, then using the visual analysis technique, which of these gains and substances were identified to which areas of children's development were targeted. Participants were selected according to the measurement sample method for the purpose of sample methods. Thirty-three teachers who meet the criteria were involved in the study. The study found that the number of positive achievements that the teacher candidates pointed out about cartoons was equal to the number of negative substances. Teacher candidates expressed that cartoons have the most positive contributions and negative effects to the "social and emotional" development of children. In this context, "Pepee and Doru" cartoons are expressed by teaching candidates as the cartoons with the most positive characteristics in terms of social and emotional development, while "Powerpuff-Girls" cartoons are expressed as the cartoons with the most negative characteristics.
