Abstract:

The age intervals that determine youth can be distinguished in various studies and by international institutions. In these definitions, the United Nations youth definition is highly accepted and covers between 15-24 years of age. This age range is the end of the educational stages of young people and the beginning of the age of life. Young people should be aware of their social responsibilities, including participation, during their education and in the pre-adult process. In other words, it is expected that young people will be more sensitive to social issues with their education and awareness that they gain in the pre-adult period and they will be able to express their views easily. But this awareness is not a development that can be gained in the educational institutions alone. To increase the participation of young people in general, they must be encouraged by the central-local government and civil initiative and directed to participate in the programmes to be prepared for young people.In this study, the current situation related to the participation of young people was evaluated from a general perspective and the elements that influenced the participation of young people were analyzed. In this context, the elements related to participation were assessed, and the emphasis was made on the participation and practice at the level of local governments, which are the participation and participation-suitable management units.
