Vakfiyeler, bir vakfın koşullarını bildiren, vakıf görevleri ve bu görevlerin hangi şartlarda uygulanacağına dair bilgiler içermesinin yanı sıra yazıldığı dönemin tarihi, coğrafi, iktisadi, sosyal ve toplumsal izlerini taşıyan önemli belgelerdir. Türk kültüründe tarih boyunca güç simgesi özelliği taşıyan sanat eserlerinin arasında geniş bir yer tutan yazılı belgeler içerik ve tezyinat bakımından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Araştırmada yazma eserler içerisinde ayrı bir grup olan vakfiyeler ele alınmıştır. Tapu ve Kadastro Genel Müdürlüğü Defter Emini Server Efendi sergi salonunda yer alan 43 ve 19 envanter numaralı vakfiyeler incelenmiştir. Vakfiyelerin tezhipli alanlarının teknik, renk, motif, kompozisyon özellikleri belirlenmiş ve çizimleri yapılarak tezyinat özellikleri ortaya konulmuştur. Araştırmanın sonucunda incelenen vakfiyelerin unvan sayfası ve tuğra tezyinatlarında zer-ender-zer, çift tahrir ve zemini boyalı klasik tezhip tekniğinin kullanıldığı belirlenmiştir. XVI. yüzyıla tarihlenen vakfiyelerin tezyinatı değerlendirildiğinde araştırmada incelenen eserlerin tezhiplerinin motif, renk ve kompozisyon özellikleri açısından dönem özelliklerini yansıttığını söylemek mümkündür.
Waqfiyahs are important documents notifying the terms of a waqf, comprising information regarding the tasks of waqf officials and how to apply these tasks, as well as bearing the historical, geographical, economic, social and communal tracks of the age when it was written. The written documents carrying the feature of being a symbol of power in Turkish culture throughout history, having a significant place in works of art are of great importance in terms of content and decoration. In the current study, waqfiyahs which are a separate group in manuscripts were examined. The waqfiyahs with an inventory number of 43 and 19 in the exhibition centre of Defter Emini Server Efendi, in the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre were investigated. Technical, colour, motive, and composition features of the illuminated parts of the waqfiyahs were determined and it was found that zer-ender-zer, double tahrir and classical illumination technique with a ground painting were used. Upon the evaluation of the illumination of the waqfiyahs dated 16th century, it is likely to say that the illumination of the works investigated in the research reflects the characteristics of the period in terms of motive, colour and composition features.
