Abstract:

In this research, which was carried out taking into account these situations, was aimed to investigate the prospective science teachers’ analogical reasoning in the optics subjects. In this research, a case study research method from qualitative research approaches was used to examine in detail the prospective science teachers’ analogical reasoning in the optics subjects. The sample of the research was consisted of 38 prospective science teachers who took the Course of Science Teaching Laboratory Applications II. In the research, the prospective science teachers prepared 38 worksheets. 32 worksheets on optics subjects were used as a data collection tool. The data obtained from the research were analyzed in the method of descriptive analysis. In worksheets that analogical reasoning on the optics subjects could not be formed, the prospective science teachers did not direct the most resources to the target, the source and the target were the same, and there were no resources. In addition, the most questions/discussions and the least direct instruction types were preferred in the findings obtained from the analogical reasoning type in the worksheets. In future studies, after corrections are made in line with the analogical reasoning worksheets prepared by the prospective science teachers, it is recommended to apply the worksheets by finalizing them both in terms of providing pedagogical field knowledge to the prospective teachers and contributing to the relevant field.
