Öğrenciler için zorlu bir süreç olan üniversite yaşamına uyumda akran desteği önemli bir etkendir. Araştırma Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi birinci sınıf öğrencilerinde akran desteğinin üniversite yaşamına uyumuna etkisini değerlendirmek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi birinci sınıf hemşirelik, sağlık yönetimi, sosyal hizmet, beslenme ve diyetetik ve fizyoterapi ve rehabilitasyon bölümlerinde öğrenim gören 274 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Verilerin toplanmasında beş sorudan oluşan kişisel bilgi formu, “Akran Desteği Ölçeği” ve “Üniversite Yaşamına Uyum Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, sayı, yüzde, ortalama, standart sapma, t testi, One-way Anova testi, korelasyon analizi ve regresyon analizi uygulanmıştır. Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin akran desteği ve üniversite yaşamına uyumunun ortalamanın üzerinde olduğu bulunmuştur. Hemşirelik bölümünde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin, diğer bölümlerde öğrenim gören öğrencilere göre üniversite yaşamına uyum puanları daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Üniversite yaşamına uyum ile akran desteği arasında pozitif ilişki olduğu ve üniversite yaşamına uyum toplam varyansının % 20’sinin akran desteği ile açıklandığı belirlenmiştir.
