Abstract:

Increasing processes such as urbanization and industrialization towards the rapidly growing human population and the satisfaction of demands around the world, increasing the pressure on natural resources, causing overuse and destruction. Pressures on natural resources affect ecosystems and services provided by ecosystems. In this context, this study has analyzed the changes that occurred between the years 1990 and 2017 by maping the potential ecosystem services in Aydin or Epheler Central District, which rapidly and unplannedly urbanized with migrations. The study used the 1990 and 2018 CORINE field use/rays cover (AKAÖ) maps and the 1990 and 2017 Landsat TM and Landsat 8 satellite images. For each date, global climate regulation (carbon storage) and micro-climate regulation (ground surface temperature-AYS) and ecological integrity ecosystem services are maped. The index of ecosystem services used in the analysis of multiple ecosystem services and the spatial and temporary changes that occurred between the years 1990-2017 have been studied by urban and rural transition analyses. As a result, there was a significant urban spread in the west-eastern direction between 1990 and 2017/2018 in the Aydin or Efeler district. However, compared to urbanization in the district and urban-city transition areas, the increase in plant coverage in agricultural areas and natural/semi-natural areas has a more positive impact on potential ecosystem services.
