Abstract:

The aim of this study is to evaluate national postgraduate (master's and doctoral) theses related to economic growth in terms of bibliometric indicators and to present the quantitative view of the obtained data. Thus, the study aims to examine and evaluate the existing the national dissertation literature on economic growth to reveal the research inclinations, including future research directions. Accordingly, it was determined that 1250 of the 1484 thesis published between 1989-2022 were master's thesis and 234 were doctoral thesis. It was determined that the most theses were written in 2019 (286) and the least thesis were written in 1989 (2); studies were conducted in 136 universities; the most thesis were written in Istanbul University (84); the most thesis were written in the institute of social sciences (1284). In the research, it was determined that the most commonly used research method was time series analysis (741); thesis were written in 21 different fields and the most studies were conducted in the field of economics; economic growth was mostly associated with macroeconomic variables (397) and the sample in these thesis was Turkey. It was also concluded that 1285 thesis were written in state universities and 147 thesis were written in foundation universities.
