Metadiscourse devices can be considered as self-reflective expressions which refer to the discourse/text, the writer, and the anticipated audience of the discourse (Hyland, 2004). It serves as a link between discourse and its context. Interactive metadiscursive devices highlight the dialogic role of discourse by revealing the writer's understanding of an audience through his/her ways to address the needs of readers (Hyland, 2005). This research presents a comparative analysis of interactive metadiscourse markers employed in the Pakistani research articles of English and Education. The corpus of the study comprises of 80 articles from the fields of English and Education. Hyland’s (2005) classification of metadiscourse has been employed as a framework for the current study. Concordance software Antconc (3.4.4w) has been utilized as a tool to explore the metadiscursive patterns grounded in the Pakistani research discourse of English and Education. Data analysis reveals cross-disciplinary differences in deploying metadicourse devices in the research articles of English and Education. However, the higher use of transition markers and frame markers is the common feature of interactive metadiscourse exploited in both disciplines.
