Abstract:

There are many poems about Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan, who, along with his life and death as well as his literature, are taken into mind. Poets such as Tevfik Fikret, Rıza Tevfik, Faik Ali, Hamid is still alive and poets that praise his art, deha, and personality. When he died on April 13, 1937, he experienced a deep sadness in the world of literature. Many literary writers write about their thoughts and feelings about it. Faik Ali, Shukfe Nihal, and Abraham Alaeddin Gövsa are the poems who write a poem that expresses their deep sadness for the death of Hamid. There are also events in the village in which the death of Hamid is commemorated. In these events, poems about Hamid are read by the poets, most of whom are literary teachers. These poems are later published in their public journals. As a result of our studies, we found that sixteen poems were written about Hamid's death. These poems often express the sadness of the poet’s death, praise his greatness and personality, and emphasize the place he occupied in Turkish literature. In some poems, Hamid is compared to people like Shakespeare and Victor Hugo from the leading names of world literature, while in some poems he is presented as the greatest poet of Turkish literature. Although the art has been constantly criticized by a piece throughout his life, the poet-i A'zam Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan, who is often praised, continues to be praised after his death. The purpose of this study is to study the address of Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan in the poems written about his death.

Many poems are written about Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan, who remains on the agenda with his death as his life and art. Tevfik Fikret, Rıza Tevfik, Faik Ali are foremost poets who write poem about him. In poems which are written about him, it is generally praised his personality, works and genius. When he was dead on April 13, 1937, his death induced to deep sadness among literatis. After his death, many litterateurs wrote a paper about him. Many poets like Faik Ali, Şükufe Nihal, İbrahim Alaeddin Gövsa wrote a poetry on his death. Also, it was organized a commemoration ceremony in people’s houses due to his death all over the country. In these commemoration ceremonies, poems read poetry about Hamid’s death. Afterwards, this poetry was published in people’s hauses magazines. We detected that sixteen poems were written on Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan’s death. In these poems, it is stressed that he is a genius and it is praised his personality and his works. In some poems, it is contrasted Hamid to Shakespeare and Victor Hugo. And, as for some poems, He is introduced as the greatest poet of Turkish literature. Although he is criticized by some people, Şair-i A’zam Abdülhak Hamit Tarhan, who is generally praised, has been praised after his death. The aim of this study is to investigate how Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan’s death is handeled in poems which are written on his death.
