Kutadgu Bilig ve Atabetü’l-Hakayık, İslami dönem Türk edebiyatının ilk yazılı örneklerinden biri olması açısından, Türk kültüründe önemli bir yere sahiptir. İki eser de toplumsal değerlere ışık tutması, insanlığa ve topluma öğütlerde bulunması ve nasihatleriyle gelecek nesillere yol göstermesi bakımından hem Türk Dili edebiyatı hem de Çağdaş edebiyat için önemli kaynaklar arasındadır. Bu çalışmada, erken İslami dönem eserlerinden olan Kutadgu Bilig ve Atabetü’l-Hakayık’ta geçen cömertlik ve cimrilik kavramları ele alınmıştır. Kutadgu Bilig ve Atabetü’l Hakayık’a baktığımızda cömertliği ifade etmek için başvurulan sözcüklerin ortak olduğunu görmekteyiz: aḳı, aḳılıḳ, aḳı bol-. Cimrilik için ise Kutadgu Bilig’de saran, saranlıḳ, saran bol-; Atabetü’l-Hakayık’ta baḫıl ve baḫıllıḳ sözcükleri tanıklanmıştır. Temelinde “telkin” etme ya da bir başka deyişle nasihatte bulunma amacı olan bu iki eserde, şairlerin, anlatmak isteyeceği şeyi daha etkin bir hale getirmek için bu kavramları ikili karşıtlıklar oluşturarak işledikleri görülmektedir. Kutadgu Bilig’de yer alan aḳı- saran, aḳılıḳ- saranlıḳ, aḳı bol-. - saran bol- yapıları; Atabetü’l-Hakayık’ta ise aḳı- baḫıl/baḫil ve aḳılıḳ- baḫıllıḳ/baḫilliḳ yapıları ikili karşıtlıkları oluşturmuştur. Yukarıda bahsi geçen sözcüklerin şairler tarafından ne şekilde işlendiği, beyitler aracılığıyla okuyucuya sunulmuş, bunun yanısıra sözcüklerin kökenlerine dair yolculuklarına da yer verilmiştir.

Kutadgu Bilig and Atabetü'l-Hakayık have an important place in Turkish culture in terms of being one of the first written examples of Islamic period Turkish literature. Both works are among important sources for both Turkish Language literature and Contemporary literature in terms of shedding light on social values, giving advice to humanity and society, and guiding future generations with their advice. In this study, the concepts of generosity and stinginess in Kutadgu Bilig and Atabetü'l-Hakayık, which are among the works of the early Islamic period, are discussed. When we look at Kutadgu Bilig and Atabetü'l Hakayık, we see that the words used to express generosity are common: aḳı, aḳılıḳ, aḳı bol-. For miserliness, in Kutadgu Bilig saran, saranlıḳ, saran bol-; in Atabetü'l-Hakayık, the words baḫıl and baḫıllıḳ are witnessed. In these two works, which basically have the purpose of "suggesting" or in other words giving advice, it is seen that the poets process these concepts by creating binary oppositions in order to make what they want to tell more effectively. The " aḳı- saran, aḳılıḳ- saranlıḳ, aḳı bol-. - saran bol-" structures in Kutadgu Bilig; on the other hand, , " aḳı- baḫıl/baḫil and aḳılıḳ- baḫıllıḳ/baḫilliḳ " structures in Atabetü'l-Hakayık, created binary oppositions. How the above-mentioned words were handled by the poets was presented to the reader through couplets, as well as their journeys about the origins of the words.
