Abstract The transition of contemporary Turkish music to polyphonic form and its adaptation to twentieth century music is an important event in the history of Turkish music. Mudiddin Dürrüoğlu-Demiriz is one of the third generation of contemporary Turkish composers. With his outstanding talent, he managed to come to the forefront in both piano and composition. He began composing at a very young age and has written works for chamber music, orchestra, and piano. Both as a performer and as a composer, he won many awards in competitions. In this study, Dürrüoğlu-Demiriz's Six Preludes is analyzed. In this current study, which also touches upon the adaptation of Turkish music for polyphony and its reasons in general, it is aimed to determine which elements of twentieth-century music Dürrüoğlu-Demiriz's Six Preludes for piano contains, as well as to identify which elements of twentieth-century music it embodies, by conducting a formal analysis and determining the traditional or twentieth-century music-specific elements and the difficulty levels of the work, as well as to benefit those who want to interpret the work.
