Abstract:

This study is an illustrative study conducted to study the social skills levels of athletes aged 12-15 years. The universe of the research was formed by 12-15-year-old groups of children (82 girls, 89 men) who will be selected by random method based on the essence of volunteering among students studying and doing sports in the state schools associated with the National Education Directorate of the province of Gaziantep. In obtaining the research data, Bacanlı and Erdoğan (2003) used the "Matson's Social Skills Assessment Scale" (Matson's Social Skills Assessment Scale). The data collected for the variables that were sought for response in the framework of the research was transmitted to the computer environment using the SPSS 22.0 package program for statistical solutions. In the analysis, the Independent Sample t test of the two groups, the OneWay ANOVA analysis was applied in the comparison of multiple groups and the p value was statistically meaningful at the level of 0.05. As a result, there is no difference between the social skill scores of children in terms of sporting, the negative and positive social behavior scores of non-sporting girls are higher than the men, the positive social behavior of the team athletes is higher than the sporting athletes, the negative social behavior scores of the 12-year-olds are higher than the 14-year-olds, the 5-year-olds are higher than the 8-year-olds, the 5-year-olds are higher than the 12-year-olds. They have higher negative behaviors than classes, while the negative social behaviors of those with a high family income in children who do sports are high, the positive social behaviors of those with a low and medium income are high, and the positive social behaviors of those with a high mother education are high, the negative social behaviors are reduced and the positive social behaviors are increased as the sports year increases.
