Soğuk Savaş döneminde, Batı Blok'u ülkelerindeki radyo yayınlarında Sovyetler Birliği'ni sert bir şekilde eleştiren haberlere yer verilmiştir. Özellikle Komünizm'e karşı ABD destekli kurulan Özgür Avrupa Radyosu'nun yayınları, doğrudan Doğu Blok'u ülkelerine yönelmiş ve Sovyetler Birliği'ni hedef almıştır. Radyo yayınlarının Doğu Blok'u ülkelerine ulaşmasının engellenememesi üzerine Sovyetler Birliği yönetimi, Batı Blok'u ülkelerinin radyo yayınlarını itibarsızlaştırmaya yönelik propaganda faaliyetlerine girişmiştir. Özellikle bu süreçte Sovyetler Birliği yönetimi, karikatürler üzerinden Batı Blok'u ülkelerinin radyo yayınlarını itibarsılaştırmaya çalışmıştır. Bu çalışmada Soğuk Savaş döneminde Sovyetler Birliği tarafından Batı Blok'u ülkelerinin radyo yayınlarını itibarsızlaştırmak amacıyla hazırlanan karikatürlerde, hangi mesajların verildiğinin ortaya konulmasına çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla çalışmada belirlenen karikatürler, Rus asıllı ABD’li Roman Jakobson'un göstergebilim kavramları ışığında analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgularda, Batı Blok'u radyo yayınlarının CIA tarafından yönetildiği ve Batı Blok'u ülkelerinin radyo yayınlarının dinlenmesinin Doğu Blok'u için tehlike oluşturduğu şeklindeki mesajlar ile radyo yayınlarının itibarsızlaştırılmaya çalışıldığı ortaya çıkarılmıştır.
During the Cold War, the Western Bloc was included in the radio broadcasts of the Soviet Union with strong criticism. Specifically, the broadcasts of the Free Europe Radio, which was established by the U.S. supported against Communism, directed the Eastern Block to its countries and targeted the Soviet Union. Since radio broadcasts could not prevent the Eastern Block from reaching their countries, the Soviet government has engaged in propaganda activities aimed at disregarding the Western Block’s country’s radio broadcasts. Especially in this process, the Soviet administration has tried to recognize the Western Block radio broadcasts of its countries through cartoons. In this study, in cartoons prepared by the Soviet Union during the Cold War with the aim of disregarding the radio broadcasts of their countries from the West Blok, it was attempted to reveal which messages were given. The cartoons identified for this purpose in the study were analyzed in the light of the indicative concepts of Russian American Roman Jakobson. The findings found that the Western Bloc radio broadcasts were managed by the CIA and that the Western Bloc radio broadcasts were attempted to disrespect the broadcasts with messages in the form of a danger for the Eastern Bloc.
Radio broadcasting in the Western Block countries made news that harshly criticized Soviet Union during the Cold War. In particular, the broadcasting of the Radio Free Europe, which was established with the support of the USA against communism, directed to the Eastern Block countries and aimed at the Soviet Union. Soviet Union administration started propaganda activities in order to discredit the radio broadcasting of Western Block countries because radio broadcasting couldn't be prevented. Especially during this period, Soviet Union administration tried to discredit the radio broadcasting of the Western Block countries through cartoons. In this study, it was tried to reveal which messages were given in the cartoons prepared by Soviet Union during the Cold War in order to discredit the radio broadcastsing of the Western Block countries. For this purpose, the cartoons identified in the study were analyzed in the light of the semantics concepts of Russian-American linguist Roman Jakobson. The findings revealed that the messages that the Western Block radio broadcasting was administered by the CIA and that the listening to radio broadcasting of Western Block countries posed a danger to the Eastern Block were given and so the Western Block radio broadcasting was tried to be discredited.
