Abstract:

In this study, with the changes in security concerns during the post-Cold War period, the NATO and the European Union relations were evaluated after 1990 with the collapse of the two-pole system, the security threats also changed and increased. In this context, the security threat, which had its boundaries clear during the Cold War, has left its place, along with the winds of globalization, in a new and uncertain environment where the boundaries are uncertain, which has led the states and international organizations to rebuild and cooperate in defence. During the Cold War, the European Union, which remained under the U.S. security shadow, began to expand its military and political structure within itself, along with the collapse of the Iron Curtain. NATO has added new threats to its post-Cold War agenda, while the European Union has continued its cooperation by trying to strengthen NATO’s European foot to preserve peace and stability in the region. In this context, my work on the NATO-EU relationship after the Cold War has been reviewed and tried to be evaluated.
