Abstract:

Children who have been forced to migrate from the areas where war and destruction have a lot of problems with their adaptation to the newly arrived society and school. The opinion of teachers about their education and the determination of the difficulties they experience in the educational environment is important for them to be able to realize their adaptation to the school by minimizing these difficulties. This study aims to identify the problems teachers face in the education of Syrian students. In the study, the scan model was used to identify the current situation. The sample group of the study consists of 305 teachers in the 2018-2019 educational year in Mardin, with Syrian students in their classroom. The study used the scale of 33 articles and 6 sub-dimensions (cultural diversity, communication, violence, education-education, harmful habits and prejudice) prepared by Çelikkol, Karaibrahimoğlu and Tokgöz (2018) for the purpose of data collection. In the analysis of the data obtained from the measurement tool, SPSS 22.0 statistical program used the frequency and percentage, arithmetic average, standard deviation, independent groups t-test, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) and tukey tests. According to the findings obtained in the study, the problems most faced by teachers with Syrian students in their classroom; the problems based on the subdimensions of communication and cultural diversity, while the least faced are harmful habits and the problems in the subdimensions of pre-justice. However, with regard to the demographic characteristics of the research results, teachers have not shown significant differences in terms of gender, civil status, place of residence and educational conditions, but the age of participants over 53 years of age have significantly more problems than the participants in other age groups in the pre-judicial sub-dimensions, the participants between 11-15 years of service have significantly more problems than the participants in the communication sub-dimensions of 16-20 years of service period, the teachers have experienced significantly more problems than the participants in the school level, the teachers have experienced significantly more problems than the teachers in the school level, the teachers in the school level, the teachers in the school level, the teachers in the school level, the teachers in the school level, the teachers in the school level, the teachers in the school level, the teachers in the school level, the teachers in the school level, the teachers in the school level,
