Abstract:

This retrospective study aims to identify the prognostic factors affecting the vision in the facts performed by vitreoretinal surgery for intraocular alien bodies (IOYC). The study included 52 patients followed by a vitreoretinal surgery with IOYC diagnosis between 2007 and 2014. The demographic characteristics of the events, preop and procedural corrected vision accuracy (EIDGK) have been recorded, the anatomical success in procedural followings and the relationship with EIDGK levels have been studied. The average age of this study, 34.6 + 14.0 years, was 10.7 months of follow. The EIDGK preop was 1.74 + 1.15 logMAR while the post was 0.92 + 1.15 logMAR in the 6th month. The entrance place of the foreign body was the corneal area. In the sixth month, the anatomical success rate was 88.4%. There were nine cases of retina decomposition. In 42.3 percent of cases, surgery should be repeated after the first surgery. In primary repairs for anatomical integrity and extracted out of the cornea of foreign bodies, the anatomical success of the 6th month was found to decline significantly (p<0,05).
