Abstract:

The relationship between history and literature and the concept of historical novel as its projection has been an issue that has been questioned and debated by literary scholars for centuries. In terms of the Western origin of the Roma genre, the first and most fundamental evaluations were initiated by Western theoreticians and academics. Except for a few doctoral dissertations and a few articles, a fundamental mental process has not been conducted in Turkish literature yet. In this study, based on the relationship between history and novel, firstly, the perception of historical novel in theoretical terms will be focused on, then we will deal with which conceptual framework, how and to what extent the reflection of the issue of conquest of Istanbul on Turkish novel. From 1875 to 2020, that is, from the Tanzimat to the Constitutional Monarchy, from the Republic period to the Multi-Party life, the 1980s and from there to 2020, it will be tried to reveal how the political and ideological developments reflect on the conquest issue.
