Abstract Folkloric Medicine: based on the social beliefs, habits and behaviours. Folkloric medicine practices have been widely used as treatment model throughout the world and in our country and it continues to impact. Its deep-rooted tradition of a traditional medicine has been part of many Anatolian tribes and cultures. By looking at morphological characteristics, the traditional birth-related practices in Anatolia can be evaluated under three headings: Pre-birth, during birth and after-birth practices. “Fatma ana eli / Meryem ana eli (Anastatika Hierochuntica)” plant has been often used both by Christians and Anatolians in order to benefit from its help at birth giving. This study will briefly look into a Turkmen village named Taktakuslar Village (part of Akcak, Balikesir) which tightly preserves its history, culture, traditions and customs. The study will then discuss the usage and belief of the “Fatma ana eli/Meryem ana eli (Anastatika Hierochuntica)” plant that has been traditionally used in this village and its meaning for folkloric medicine.
