Bu çalışmanın amacı, çalışmada ele alınan konulara dönük olarak geliştirilen sanal manipülatif takımının (MATMAP) öğrencilerin matematik dersindeki başarılarına ve geometriye yönelik tutumlarına etkisini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada deneysel araştırma yaklaşımlarından biri olan ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubu, Konya ili Kulu ilçesi merkezinde bulunan bir ortaokulun iki 6. sınıf şubesinde öğrenim gören 25’i deney ve 27’si kontrol grubunu oluşturan 52 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri matematik dersi başarı testi ve geometriye yönelik tutum ölçeği aracılığıyla elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin aynı grup içindeki analizinde bağımlı örneklem t-testi, gruplar arası analizinde ise bağımsız örneklemler t-testi ve ANCOVA testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda, her iki grubun başarı puanlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir artışın olduğu belirlenmiştir. Grupların deneysel işlem sonrası matematik başarıları karşılaştırıldığında, ön test puanlarına göre düzeltilmiş matematik başarı son test puanları arasındaki farkın sadece deney grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yine deney grubu öğrencilerinin kontrol grubu öğrencilerine göre istatistiksel olarak geometriye yönelik daha fazla olumlu tutum geliştirdiği belirlenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonunda hem araştırma sonuçlarına dayalı olarak hem de ileride geliştirilecek benzer materyallerin tasarımına ilişkin önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
The aim of this study is to reveal the impact of the virtual manipulation team (MATMAP) developed towards the topics discussed in the study on the success of students in mathematics courses and their attitudes towards geometry. The study used a semi-experimental pattern with a pre-test-final test control group, which is one of the experimental research approaches. The work group consists of 52 students who study in two 6th-class branches of a secondary school located in the center of Konya or Kulu district, 25 experiments and 27 control groups. The research data was obtained through the math course success test and the attitude scale towards geometry. In the analysis of the data obtained in the same group, the depending sampling t-test, and in the inter-group analysis, the independent sampling t-test and the ANCOVA test were used. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained in the study, it was found that both groups had a statistically significant increase in their success score. When comparing the mathematical success of the group after the experimental process, it was determined that the difference between the mathematical success corrected according to the pre-test scores between the final test scores was only statistically meaningful for the benefit of the experimental group. Again, the experiment group has established that students have developed more statistically positive attitudes towards geometry compared to the control group students. At the end of the study, recommendations were made on the design of similar materials to be developed on the basis of both the research results and in the future.
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the virtual manipulative set (called MATMAP) developed for the subjects tackled in the study on students' achievement in mathematics lesson and attitudes towards geometry. The quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group, one of the experimental research approaches, was used in the study. The study group consists of 52 students, 25 of whom are in the experimental group and 27 of whom are in the control group, studying in two 6th grade classes of a secondary school in the center of Kulu district of Konya province. The data of the research were obtained through the mathematics lesson achievement test and the attitude towards geometry scale. The dependent sample t-test was used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study within the same group, and the independent samples t-test and ANCOVA test were used in the analysis between the groups. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained in the study, it was determined that there was a statistically significant increase in the achievement scores of both groups. When the mathematics achievements of the groups after the experimental procedure were compared, it was determined that the difference between the post-test scores of the mathematics lesson achievement corrected according to the pre-test scores was only statistically significant in favor of the experimental group. It was also determined that the experimental group students developed statistically more positive attitudes towards geometry than the control group students. At the end of the study, suggestions were made based on the research results and on the design of similar materials to be developed in the future. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained in the study, it was determined that there was a statistically significant increase in the achievement scores of both groups. When the mathematics achievement posttest scores of the groups were compared, it was determined that the experimental group students were statistically more successful than the control group students. It was also determined that the experimental group students developed statistically more positive attitudes towards geometry than the control group students. At the end of the study, suggestions were made based on the research results and on the design of similar materials to be developed in the future.
