Blastocystis hominis insan bağırsak sisteminde yaygın olarak bulunan parazitlerden biridir. Uzun yıllar zararsız kabul edilen bu parazitin patojenitesi, gastrointestinal sistem semptomlarını oluşturmadaki rolü ve tedavisi tartışmalıdır. Bu çalışmada acil servise karın ağısı, bulantı ve ishal şikayeti ile başvuran ve B. hominis tanısı konulan bir hastanın acil serviste değerlendirilmesi ve tartışılması amaçlanmıştır. 7 günlük Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole (TMP/SMX) tedavisi uygulanan hastanın kontrol muayenesinde semptomların düzeldiği gözlemlenmiştir. Bu olgu sunumu ile B. hominis'e, onun tanı ve tedavisine dikkat çekileceğini ümit ediyoruz. Ayrıca bu gibi olgularda TMP/SMX tedavisini önermekteyiz.
Blastocystis hominis is one of the parasites commonly found in the human intestinal system. The pathogenity of this parasite, which has been considered harmless for many years, should be discussed in the role and treatment of the forming of gastrointestinal system symptoms. This study aims to evaluate and discuss an emergency service patient with a stomach network, nausea and diarrhea complaint and diagnosed with B. hominis. The patient who was treated with Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole (TMP/SMX) for 7 days was observed to have improved symptoms during the control examination. With this presentation of the fact, we hope that B. hominis will be attracted attention to his diagnosis and treatment. We also recommend TMP/SMX treatment in such cases.
