After the Second World War, industrial, technological developments and production has gained rapidity, in the 1950s and 1960s, causing radical changes in the American society. The transformation of social and cultural dynamics has also sociologically influenced the production in the field of art in America. With the means of mass communication, in a period in which the cultural industry and popular culture have existed in the social life from good to good, and in which the influences of modernism have decreased, the subject, material and techniques in the artists’ production have also gone towards a conceptual evolution in parallel with these developments. Robert Rauschenberg, one of the young artists of that time, in his work in the Combined Series, using industrial and buluntu objects, developed a unique new technique and style understanding. In this direction, the artist has also become an important representative of post-war American art. The artist has found different applications in his production of the Combined Series, which contains experimentality, without any restrictions on objects and materials with the traditional understanding of paint, which also exceeds the possibilities of two dimensions. The objective of the study is to be able to provide information on the use of the object in an artistic form on the basis of sociological arguments in the productions of the Combined Series, which the artist has presented between 1954-1964, to understand the art of the time, to reveal a range of different materials and techniques, and to evaluate the artistic attitude of the artist. Therefore, the political, social and cultural etc. in which the artist is within the American society. Before the study of his work was influenced and inspired by his developments, the social transformations that influenced R. Rauschenberg’s artistic productions and art movements were first and foremost discussed. In this study, the four main works related to the American artist Robert Rauschenberg's production in the Combined Series between 1954 and 1964 were studied (Bed, Rebus, Canyon, Monogram) and the research was limited to this scope. Through these works, the artist’s non-artistic objects are converted into art forms. For this research text, domestic and foreign printed and online resources have been used and literary scan in the method of research has been used.

The aim of the study is to present information about the use of the object in an artistic form on the basis of sociological arguments, to understand the art understanding of the period, to reveal the coexistence of different materials and techniques, and to examine the artistic attitude of the artist in the Combine Series produced between 1954-1964. Through these works, the artist's transformation of non-art objects into art forms is discussed.
