Abstract:

With the influence of globalization, individuals from different cultures are increasingly living together. This situation leads to the establishment of a heterogeneous structure of the homogeneous social structures, and the interaction of individuals with different languages, religions, ethnic origins and sexual orientations becomes inevitable. The relevant aspect requires having positive emotions to communicate and maintain with individuals from different cultures to have inter-cultural sensitivity. Otherwise, a situation can lead to a variety of problems that will negatively affect the peace and well-being of both communities and individuals. When individuals have inter-cultural sensitivity, the educational process is an important element. In the context of this process, a number of courses can play an important role in providing intercultural sensitivity with their contents and purposes. Social knowledge is one of these lessons. Those who are going to be teachers are teachers. In this context, it is said that the status and level of inter-cultural sensitivity of teachers is of importance. In the relevant research, social information is aimed at determining the level of inter-cultural sensitivity of the teacher candidates. The research has taken advantage of the screening model. As a data collection tool, the cross-cultural sensitivity scale was used adapted to the Turkish by Üstün (2011) developed by Chen and Starosta (2000). The sample of the research is formed by teachers candidates who study in the Education-Teaching Year 2020-2021 in the University of Inönü and the University of Muş Alparslan in the Department of Social Information Teaching and Anabilities. The findings from the study show that the level of inter-cultural sensitivity of the teacher candidates is in uncertainty and that the level of inter-cultural sensitivity varies according to the gender, the university studied, the class level and the place where the majority of life was spent.
