Abstract Measures taken to satisfy the increasing energy need world-wide have affacted the building sector as in every sector, has made it necessary to move towards sustainable and energy efficient building systems. İn this process, building facades turned into a building element that monitors energy efficiency in addition to being a shell that protects the interior from external influences, it also contributes to the building performance. The materials used in the facades of such buildings, the geometric form of the facade may create additional fire hazards and some applications can prevent firefighting intervention. Our national fire regulation provides some proxisions on the choise of materials as well as active and passive fire precautions. In this study additional fire loads that may occur on sustainable fronts has been evaluated on many factors, and measures that must be taken by national fire regulation and standards are specified.
