Abstract:

Digital technology is a concept that has taken its place in all areas of our lives, one of these areas is education. In sports sciences, which is one of the fields of education, the perception of the digital technology is important. The aim of this research is to determine the metaphorical perceptions of the students in faculty of sports sciences towards the concept of digital technology. 249 students voluntarily participated in this research, which was carried out by adopting the phenomenology approach, one of the qualitative researches. As a data collection tool, a questionnaire prepared by the researchers was used to determine the demographic information of the participants and their metaphorical perceptions about the concept of digital technology. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data. Metaphors for the concept of digital technology were found in 13 different categories: 'basic need, natural phenomenon, goods, negative situation, food and beverage, education, organ, place/space, sports, animal, spiritual value, positive situation, abstract concept'. As a result, students mostly see the digital technology as a basic need. At this point, it can be said that the concept of digital technology has an important place for the sport science students.
