Abstract:

Exhibition spaces from the past to the present, in addition to exhibition, collection and savings, hold educational and communication functions in the forefront. Today, as an exhibition place, museums carry out visitor-oriented techniques in order to keep the space-visitor-building communication strong in the exhibition design. The exhibition spaces changing and developing with technology, as long as they stand up, are oriented towards interactive trends. In interactive exhibitions where the spectator is moving from a passive position to an active position in front of the artwork, virtual and augmented reality technologies, holograms, simulations, three-dimensional projection systems, multi-touch screens and touch (haptic) technologies are used. Today, thanks to global developments, metaverse and NFT concepts are popular and new in the world of art. This article has briefly referred to the history of the museum, examined the places and methods of exhibition from the past to the present, the impact of developing technology on the places and methods of exhibition has been studied and the technologies named have been referred to in the relevant subtitles. The aim of this study based on the scan of visual literature is to contribute to literature by studying the cooperation of art institutions with technology and discussing the effects of the latest developments on the exhibition spaces in the future, in the moment that technology is rapidly developing. The findings show that the museums adapt to the advanced technologies and that the adaptation leads to the transformation from the concept of classical museumism to the modern museumism; this transformation also causes changes in the exhibition space and technologies, and the art of the museum’s desire to establish visitor-focused exhibitions shows that new exhibition and presentation techniques are formed within the modern museumism concept.
