Abstract:

The mainstream media is one of the areas where the speeches in the direction of the dominant ideologies of the ruling class must be re-represented. Visual hearing mechanisms, such as cinema and television, are the means of public communication that make it easy to reflect these re-produced representations into the public space. The series is one of the obvious program types where social gender codes are placed in the narrative and regularly met with the audience, so it is constantly re-producing and re-producing these codes to establish the place of these ideological statements. In this study, we have studied how women are represented in the series in Turkey, with a total of 81 episodes from October 2017 to February 2020 through the "Woman" series broadcast three seasons in the FOX TV prime-time generation. In the study, it first included the concepts of gender and social gender, then explained the social gender and media relationship, and pointed to the position of the series films in this relationship. Within this theoretical framework, using the quality research method, the sections of the Women series have been analyzed. The motivation and goals of the main and assistant female characters in the series have been studied, the social gender codes are attributed to the meanings of these female characters re-produced speeches have been tried to express the positioning of the woman.
