Abstract The present paper analyzes the urbanization process´s and domestic migrations characteristics in Havana compared to those taking place in other capital cities in Latin America and the Caribbean. This work´s basic information is shown in data tabulations deriving from various 2000´s first decade national population census performed in other countries of the aforementioned region, such information has been published by Programa Migración Interna de América Latina y el Caribe (MIALC: Latin America and the Caribbean Domestic Migration Program), on Centro Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Demografía (CELADE: Latin American Centre and Caribbean for Demography) website. The present article aims at diminishing the difficulties as to methodological terms, arising when comparing national domestic migration, due to information sources´ features, the number of geographical areas the countries are divided by, area extension, and the concept or urban or rural condition of used geographical units.
