Abstract:

As a result of globalization, the increase in logistics activities has become very important for companies competing in the international market to deliver their products and services to the target market and consumers at the right time, in the right amount and at the right price. In this context, the logistics villages where all the logistics activities are gathered together are of great importance. Logistics villages are centers that enable the logistics activities to be performed effectively and efficiently, directly contributing to the country’s economies and the efficiency of. The logistics villages began to be established in America for the first time in the 1960s and spread to Europe from there to the world. The work on logistics villages in Turkey was launched in 2007 by the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD). In Turkey there are 27 logistics villages in the public and private sector management, 11 of which are open to operations. 9 of the business-open logistics villages are operated by TCDD, 2 of which are operated by the private sector. Logistics villages are of great strategic importance for countries and because they are more efficient and efficient and provide opportunities for more coordinated work with other systems. In this study the logistics village concept was addressed, the management characteristics of the logistics villages were studied and information about the logistics villages in Turkey was provided.
