Bu çalışmanın amacı huzurevinde kalan yaşlı bireylerde ölüm kaygısı ve ölüme ilişkin depresyon düzeylerinin bazı sosyodemografik değişkenler açısından incelenmesidir.Çalışmaya Darülaceze Başkanlığına bağlı Huzurevi Yaşlı Bakım Rehabilitasyon Merkezinde kalmakta olan 290 yaşlı (140 kadın, 150 erkek) katılmıştır. Çalışmaya katılan yaşlılara kişisel bilgi formu ve ölüm kaygısı ölçeği ile ölüme ilişkin depresyon ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Ölüm kaygısı ölçeği ile ölüme ilişkin depresyon ölçeği arasında pozitif yönlü orta derecede bir ilişki saptanmıştır. Sosyodemografik değişkenlerle ölçekler arasındaki korelasyonlar değerlendirildiğinde ölüm kaygısı ölçeği ve ölüme ilişkin depresyon ölçeği ile huzurevinde kalma süresi arasında negatif, çocuk sayısı ve yaş açısından pozitif korelasyon saptanmıştır. Cinsiyet, kronik sağlık sorunu ve eğitim durumu ile ölüm kaygısı ölçeği ve ölüme ilişkin depresyon ölçeği puanları arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir fark saptanmamışken ibadet etme sıklığı ve huzurevinde kalınan odadaki kişi sayısı ile ölüm kaygısı ölçeği ve ölüme ilişkin depresyon ölçeği puanları arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir fark saptanmıştır. Bu çalışmada yaşlılarda ölüm kaygısı ve ölüme ilişkin depresyon düzeyinin yaş, çocuk sayısı, ziyaret edilme sıklığı ve huzurevinde kalınan odadaki kişi sayısı ve kalma süresi ile ilişkili olduğu medeni durum, cinsiyet, eğitim durumu ve kronik sağlık sorunu olmasının ölüm kaygısını ve ölüme ilişkin depresyonu etkilemediği saptanmıştır. Ayrıca çalışmaya katılan yaşlıların ölüm kaygısı ve ölüme ilişkin depresyonunun orta düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir.
The aim of this study is to study the death fear and depression levels related to death in the elderly persons who remain in peace.The study included 290 elderly (140 women, 150 men) who remain in the Huzurevi Elderly Care Rehabilitation Center, associated with the Darülaceze Presidency. The study applied to the elderly the personal information form and the scale of death anxiety and the scale of death-related depression. A positive, middle-degree relationship has been established between the scale of death fear and the scale of death-related depression. When the correlations between sociodemographic variables and scales were assessed, a positive correlation between the scale of death anxiety and the scale of death-related depression and the duration of staying in the room, the number of children and the age. There is no statistically significant difference between gender, chronic health problems and educational status and death-related depression scale scale and death-related depression scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale scale. The study found that death fear and death-related depression levels in the elderly were related to the age, the number of children, the frequency of visits and the number of persons in the room and the duration of stay; the civic status, gender, educational status and chronic health problems did not affect death fear and death-related depression. The study also found that the death fear and death-related depression of the elderly participants were at a medium level.
