Abstract:

Gastronomy museums ensure that the conservation of these cultural values is transferred to and continued to future generations by enabling the recording of the food and drink habits of cultures. Gastronomy museums that provide information about the history, production, preparation and presentation of foods and the vehicles used at this stage have an important position in terms of their contribution to tourism activities in the region. The study has studied the use of the Oleatrium Olive and Olive Oil Historical Museum, which was an important attraction element in 2012, as an attraction element in tourism and its contribution to tourism activities in the region. The study is conducted in the form of an example study of the event. To be able to make detailed descriptions about the Olive Oil Museum, the observation and staff’s opinions are gathered in the framework of the concept of non-specific cultural heritage, it is attempted to be assessed in terms of the location and importance of the gastronomic museums. As a result, one of the successful examples of gastronomy museums, the Oleatrium Olive and Olive Oil Historical Museum is proven by the increase in the number of tourists arriving here from the year to the year, which has given a vitality and diversity to tourist activities in Kuşadası. At the same time, this museum addresses the pleasant feelings of tourists as an attraction element and strengthens the preferability and gastronomic identity of the destination.
