Bu çalışmada 15. Yüzyılda Portekiz, ardından İspanya ve daha sonra İngiltere, Hollanda ve Fransa’da başlayan sömürgecilik hareketleri, sömürgecilik hareketlerinin Avrupa’nın yanı sıra Güney Amerika, Afrika’daki etkileri, fiyat devrimi, hastalık ve mikropların yayılması ile sömürgecilik ideolojisi ele alınmıştır. Sömürgecilik hareketlerinin Güney Amerika ve Afrika’da meydana getirdiği yıkım ile Batı dünyasının sömürgecilik hareketleri sonucu gelişimi ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışmada doküman araştırması yapılmıştır. İlgili alan yazın taranmış ve tartışılmıştır. Sömürgecilik hareketleri sonucunda dünya egemenliği Doğu’dan Batı’ya geçti. Batı dünyası 16. yüzyılla birlikte ekonomik ve siyasi üstünlüğünü dünyaya kabul ettirmeye başladı. Bilimsel ve teknik üstünlüğüyle dünyaya büyük oranda egemen oldu. Portekiz ve İspanya 15. Yüzyılda Amerika, Afrika ve Asya kıtalarında ve okyanuslarda sömürge imparatorluklarını kurdular. Fiyat Devrimi’yle birlikte 1500-1650 yılları arasında birçok ürünün fiyatı beş kata kadar arttı. Güney Amerika’daki İspanyol Sömürge İmparatorluğu’ndan Avrupa’ya akan tonlarca gümüş, fiyat devriminin başlamasında en önemli etkendi. Öldürücü mikroplar bağışıklıkları olmayan Güney Amerika ve Afrika’daki yerli nüfusları çok büyük oranda azalttı. Bazı yerlerde de tamamen ortadan kaldırmıştır.
