Bu çalışmada, kuruluş amacında “Türkiye’nin uluslararası eğitimde dünyaya açılan kapısı” olarak belirtilen Türkiye Maarif Vakfı’nın faaliyetleri, geleneksel diplomasi anlayışından farklı olarak diğer ülke kamuoylarını etkilemeye yönelik olarak yürütmüş olduğu ve yumuşak güç olarak tabir edilen unsurlardan birisi olan eğitim diplomasisi açısından incelenmiştir. Vakıf, faaliyette bulunduğu ülkelerde gerek Türkiye’nin yükseköğretim imkânlarının yurt dışında tanıtılmasına gerekse öğrencilerin yükseköğretim için Türkiye’yi tercih etmesine öncülük etmektedir. Bu bağlamda nitel araştırma yöntemlerinin imkânlarından faydalanılarak hazırlanan bu çalışmada, Vakfın uluslararası arenada yürütmüş olduğu eğitim diplomasisi faaliyetlerinin öneminin vurgulanması ve incelenmesi konu edinilmiştir.
In this study, the activities of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, which is stated as "Turkey's gateway to the world in international education" in its founding purpose, are examined in terms of education diplomacy, which is one of the elements described as soft power that countries have carried out to influence the public opinion of other countries, unlike the traditional diplomacy understanding. The Foundation has an important role in promoting Turkey’s higher education opportunities abroad in the countries in which it operates and in making students prefer Turkey for higher education. In this context, the general purpose of this study, which was prepared by making use of the possibilities of qualitative research methods, is to emphasize and examine the importance of the educational diplomacy activities carried out by the Foundation in the international arena.
