ÖZ Amaç: Bu araştırma “doğum sürecinde yapılan vajinal muayeneye ilişkin annelerin görüşlerini” belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel özellikteki araştırma, Türkiye’nin kuzeybatısında bir il ve bir ilçe devlet hastanesinin, doğum birimine doğum yapmak için başvuran 121 nullipar ile yürütülmüştür. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen anket formu aracılığıyla, yüz yüze görüşme tekniğiyle doğum ve doğum sonrası erken dönemde (pospartum ilk 2 saat) toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan annelerin çoğunluğu; doğum sürecinde (intrapartum döneminde) vajinal muayene yapan kişinin erkek olmasından rahatsızlık duyduğunu (%66.9), vajinal muayeneyi doktorun yapmasını (%51.2), muayenenin masada (%57.3) ve yanlarında biri yok iken (%97.5), tek kişilik odada (%85.1) yapılmasını istediklerini belirtmişlerdir. Anneler daha çok vajinal muayenenin önemli ve gerekli olduğunu (%61.2), servikal açıklığı değerlendirmek amacıyla yapıldığını (%46.9), muayenenin gerekli olduğunda (%75.2) yapılmasını ifade etmişlerdir. Yine annelerin çoğunluğu vajinal muayene olurken utandığını (%57.9) ve utanma nedenlerinin mahrem bölgelerini göstermekten kaynaklandığını (%58.7), muayene sırasında rahatsızlık yaşadıklarını (%88.4) ve yaşadıkları rahatsızlık duygusunun “stresli” bir uygulama olmasından kaynaklandığını (%40.5), vajinal muayene sırasında daha nazik ve yavaş davranıldığında kendilerini güvende hissedeceklerini (%46.3) belirtmişlerdir. Sonuç: Çalışmada annelerin daha çok vajinal muayeneye yönelik olumsuz görüşlerde bulundukları sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu kapsamda vajinal muayene esnasında yapılacak olan destekleyici ebelik yaklaşımı ile kadınların edinecekleri deneyimin olumlu olması büyük önem taşımaktadır.
ABSTRACT Aim: This research was carried out to determine 'Opinions of mothers regarding the vaginal examination made during the birth process'. Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study, a province in northwestern Turkey and admitted to the county's public hospital maternity units was carried out by 121 nulliparous. The data were collected through face-to-face interview technique in the early postpartum period (the first 2 hours of the postpartum period) via a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Results: The majority of the mothers who participated in the study stated that they feel uncomfortable with the vaginal examiner being male (66.9%) and that they wanted the vaginal examination to be done in a single room (85.1%) by the doctor (51.2%), in a table (57. 3%), with no one on their side (97.5%). The pregnancies mostly said that the vaginal examination was critical and necessary (61.2%), that it was done to evaluate the opening of the cervical (46.9%), but that it should be done only when necessary (75.2%). They also stated that most of them were embarrassed during vaginal examinations (57.9%) and the cause of this is exposing the private parts of their body (58.7%). They stated that they experienced discomfort during the examination (88.4%) and that the sense of discomfort they experienced was caused by "stressful" practice (40.5%) and that they would feel safe if they were treated more slowly and gently during the vaginal examination (46.3%). Conclusion: In the study, it was concluded that mothers had more negative opinions about the vaginal examination. In this context, it is very crucial that the experience of women is positive with a supportive midwifery approach during the vaginal examination.
