Hemşirelerin %51.5’i hekimlerin, %48.5’i arkadaşlarının hatalarına şahit olduğu vefazla yapılan tıbbi hata türünün %57.8 ilaç hatası olduğunu belirtmiştir.
Purpose: Patient safety is all the measures taken by health institutions and employees in these institutions in order to prevent the damage that health care services cause to persons. The aim of this study is to determine the tendency of child nurses to make mistakes. Method: The universe of research was formed by nurses working in two hospitals. Despite the aim to reach the entire universe, 123 nurses who agreed to participate in the study made 80% sample. The study is an illustrative type of research, and the data was collected between 15.03.2011-15.07.2011. In the study, the data was collected using the survey form and the medical error tendency scale in nursing. The scale of tendency to medical error in nursing consists of 5-dimensional medication and transfusion applications, falls, hospital infections, patient monitoring, communication and material safety and 49 items. The scale is 45 and the highest is 245. In the assessment of data, the frequency criteria, the student t test in binary variables, and the variance analysis in more than two variables were used. Results: 61% of children’s nurses involved in the study found that they had medical errors. 51.5 per cent of nurses said that the type of medical error that the doctors witnessed the errors of their friends was 57.8 per cent drug error. 27.7 percent of nurses have previously made a drug error, and 67.8 percent of the drug error is the wrong dose of the drug. The scale score average is 227.12±15.06 Minimum 171, maximum 245. A statistically significant difference has been found between the unit in which children’s nurses work and the overall score of medical errors trends. None of the nurses have completed the report. The result: the need for awareness of healthcare staff to increase medical errors reports and reduce errors rates has emerged
