Abstract:

Air pollution is one of the most important public health factors globally. Therefore, national and international assessments have determined the parameters to be monitored to determine air quality as a result. Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), ozon (O3), carbon monoxide (CO) and particle (PM10) measurement results determine air pollution levels. Today, a large portion of mankind lives in cities. The negative effects of air pollution in areas where the population is intense lead to a variety of health problems in the short and long term. Human activities are transportation, heating and industrial air pollution, as well as natural air pollution such as volcanoes, dust transport, forest fires. In order to prevent the formation of air pollution on the urban scale, air pollution must be monitored by measurements and preventive policies should be developed to take into account the results. The air quality index (HQ) used in tracking the concentrations of air pollutants is an important indicator of air quality. This study aims to study the time change of the impacts of air pollutants on the air quality index in an industrial area. The work area has been selected in the Çerkezköy region with intense industrial activities and the 4 year air quality index change has been studied. Additionally, in 2020, the impact of the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on HKI has been studied. In the light of the findings obtained, it is clear that between 2016 and 2020 the HKI values are mainly on a medium and good level. In addition, it has also been shown that in 2019 and 2020, the HKI values of Nazaran in 2016 and 2017 were at better levels.
