Introduction: Individuals undergoing bariatric surgery may have nutritional deficiencies in the postoperative period, therefore, they need nutritional supplementation to prevent physiological changes. Objective: To analyze the relation between the use of nutritional supplements, the presence of clinical signs of nutritional deficiencies and the nutritional status in women 24 months after bariatric surgery. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional analytical and descriptive study with patients who was submitted gastric bypass procedure in Roux-en-Y and gastric sleeve. Sociodemographic data and anformation about use of nutritional supplements were collected. Physical examination was realized and weight and height were measured to calculate the preoperative and current Body Mass Index (BMI) (kg/m²), excess weight loss (%) and weight regain (kg and %). Results and Discussion: 50 participants with mean age of 40.9 ± 11.4 years and a current BMI of 29.7 ± 5.4 kg/m². The most frequent clinical signs of deficiency were brittle nails, hair loss and bleached conjunctivae. 58% of the participants used polyvitamins. There were statistically significant correlations between sociodemographic data, clinical signs and use of supplements, demonstrating the influence of these variables on treatment adherence. In addition, significant correlations were observed between the use of supplements, the presence of clinical signs and nutritional status, indicating the importance of supplementation for obtaining and maintaining good results after bariatric surgery. Conclusion: The results reinforce the importance of nutritional monitoring, in order to reduce post-surgical complications and obtain the nutritional needs of these individuals.
