2019 yılında ortaya çıkan ve tüm dünyada etkisini gösteren Covid-19, zamanla pandemi halini almış ve dünyanın birçok ülkesinde olduğu gibi ülkemizde de yüz yüze eğitim sürecine geçici süre ile ara verilmesine ve uzaktan eğitim sistemine geçilmesine neden olmuş, uzaktan eğitim süreci Türk Eğitim Sisteminde yeni bir dönem başlatmış ve her ders gibi İngilizce dersi de bu durumdan doğrudan etkilenmiştir. Uzaktan eğitim süreci, pandemi nedeniyle eğitim sisteminin olumsuz etkilenmesinin önlenmesi adına doğru ve yerinde bir çözüm olmakla birlikte, öğretmenler ve öğrenciler açısından bir takım problemleri de beraberinde getirmiştir. Uzaktan eğitim sürecinde yaşanan sorunlar kısaca şöyle özetlenebilir: Teknolojik yönden internet ve bağlantı sorunları; öğrenciler yönünden derse yeterince katılım olmaması ve motivasyon düşüklüğü; eğitim yöntem ve teknikleri yönünden İngilizce dersinin dört temel becerisi olan konuşma, yazma, dinleme ve okumanın uygulanmasında yetersiz kalınması; zaman ve mekan yönünden, ders sürelerinin kısa olması, zamanın verimli kullanılamaması ve öğrencilerin ev rahatlığı nedeniyle derse yoğunlaşamaması; ders materyali yönünden ise materyallerin öğrencilere ulaştırılamaması. Yaşanan problemlerin çözümü bakımından teknolojik altyapının güçlendirilmesi, öğrencilerin internete ulaşımı ve yeni bir model olan uzaktan eğitime yönelik yeni öğretim yöntem ve tekniklerinin geliştirilmesi adına önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
The Covid-19, which appeared in 2019 and showed its influence throughout the world, has become a pandemic over time and has caused the process of face-to-face education to be interrupted temporarily and transmitted to the remote education system, the process of distance education has launched a new period in the Turkish Education System and the English language lesson, like every lesson, has been directly affected by this situation. While the distance learning process is a correct and localized solution to prevent the negative impact of the educational system due to the pandemic, it has brought together a number of problems for teachers and students. Problems in the process of distance learning can be summarized as follows: Internet and connectivity problems from a technological point of view; lack of sufficient participation in the lesson and low motivation from a student point of view; lack of sufficient speech, writing, listening and reading in the application of the four basic skills of the English lesson in the field of teaching methods and techniques; short time and space, lesson periods, unefficient use of time and unable to concentrate the lesson due to the comfort of the students at home; and the lesson material from the point of view cannot be delivered to students. For the resolution of current problems, the strengthening of technological infrastructure, the Internet transportation of students and the development of new teaching methods and techniques for remote learning, a new model, are recommended.
