Purpose: Composite resins and glass ionomers are among the dental materials used today in restorative dental medicine. Water absorption and resolution are factors that affect the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of all restorative materials, which are completely uncontrollable. The aim of this study is to compare the water absorption and resolution values of mass-placed restorative materials. Tools and Methods:In the study, as a massally placed restorative material; SonicFill, x-tra elephant, Tetric N-Ceram Bulk Fill and Equia elephant, as a conventional composite, the filter Z550 material was also used. From each material, 10 pieces (15 mm diameter and 1 mm thickness) were prepared by polymerizing with a LED light device (Valo, Ultradent 1200 mW/cm2) according to the instructions of the manufacturer. The changes in the fixed mass weights of the samples after waiting in water (1, 7, 30 days) were measured as "microgram (μg)" and the water absorption and resolution values were calculated as "μg/mm3". The statistical assessment was carried out using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U multiple comparison tests (α=0.05). Results:There is no statistical difference between mass-placed composite resin and traditional composite resin material in terms of water absorption and resolution values (p>0.05). Among the tested materials, the high viscosite glass ionomer's water absorption and resolution values were found higher than the composite groups (p<0.001). While water absorption values depending on time were not different in composite groups (p>0.05), water absorption of the glass ionomer is observed increasing over time (p<0.001). Results:Massable placed composites have water absorption and resolution characteristics similar to conventional composite resins. Keywords:massable placed composite resins, high viscosity glass ionomer, water absorption
