This study was conducted to determine the fear of labor and to decide the delivery type of the pregnant who participated to preparation for labor. This study that was as descriptive was conducted with 85 pregnant women who came to Preparation for Labor Course to Acıbadem Hospital between April 2013-February 2014. For statistical analysis; number, percent and Correlation Analysis were used. It is determined that average age of them was 28.1±3.3 years, 69.4% graduated from high school. Also, 26.6% of the pregnant women who chose caesarean section, preferred this delivery type because of their fear of labor. According to Wijma Delivery Expectancy/ Experience Questionnaire; it is found that of the women; 38.8% felt fear at severe level, 8.2% felt fear at clinical level. Again, with increased in total W-DEQ-A fear score of pregnant women, there was a meaningful relation between cop-out, procrastination and panic deciding those were subscales of decision making questionnaire (p<0.05). Fear of labor is a serious problem that affects both pregnancy and the delivery process as negatively. It is very important to give antenatal care by considering approaches and beliefs of women and they should be encouraged about normal delivery
