Abstract:

Europe has become a geography that has migrated after World War II, especially because of the need for labor. But the end of the Cold War period, such as security, economic and demographic concerns, this time resulted in the perception of migration to the continent as a threat. This conclusion is believed to have a remarkable theoretical background, as it is concerned with a number of political reflections. In these "threats" perceptions of immigration and immigrants, the beginning of cultural-identity elements to appear clearly in the forefront of the studies of transnational immigration theories is of importance. Therefore, this study aims to reveal the theoretical background of Europe’s perception of the threat to migrants within the framework of approaches and concepts such as “national-extraterrestrial” and “immigrant-extraterrestrial” and to identify the clues of the political reflections created on this ground. The study in this context aims to develop a different perspective with the thesis of the need for assessment of the immigration phenomenon not only on the economic and security basis, but also on the identity basis, with a theoretical perspective focused on the causes of immigration, but on its results.
