Abstract:

In this research, it has been purposed of determining the relationship between teachers’ loneliness in professionel life and work engagement and satisfaction with life. This study has been designed by correlational model which is one of quantative research designs. The universe of the research has been comprised of teachers working in primary schools in Siirt province. The sample of the research has been effectuated by 241 teachers working in 26 primary schools. In this research disproportionate cluster sampling method, which is one of the random sampling method, has been applied. The data of the research have been acquired by “Individual Knowledge Form”, “Teachers’ Loneliness At Work Scale”, “Work Engagement Scale” and “Satisfaction With Life Scale”. The results of hierarchical regression analysis have showed that the level of teachers’ loneliness in professionel life significantly predicts level of work engagement. Also work engagement variable has a full mediator role in the relationship between the variables of loneliness at work and satisfaction with life. For school administrators who want teachers to have high levels of work engagement and satisfaction with life, it would be helpful to organize activites for strenghening teachers’ social relations.
