Bu çalışmanın amacı Türk edebiyat dizgesindeki ilk yerli popüler edebiyat ürünlerinin çeviri yoluyla nasıl yazıldığını ve basıldığı dönemdeki işlevlerinin ne olduğunu incelemektir. Edebiyat dizgemizdeki polisiye, korku ve çizgi roman türlerinin ilk örnekleri olarak kabul edilen Türklerin Sherlock Holmes’ü Amanvermez Avni (1913- 1914), Kazıklı Voyvoda (1928) ve Baytekin (1935-1936) bu çalışmanın araştırma nesnelerini oluşturmuştur. Seçilen bu eserler, Batılı popüler edebiyat eserleriyle olan benzerlikleri nedeniyle uyarlama ya da taklit kavramlarıyla anılmaya başlamıştır. Çağdaş çeviri kuramlarına yön veren, her çevirinin bir yeniden yazım olduğu ve belirli bir ideolojiyi yansıttığı düşüncesinden hareketle, bu çalışmada bahsi geçen eserleri “çeviri” kavramı bağlamında yayımlandıkları dönem koşulları çerçevesinde inceledim. Yaptığım araştırmada popüler edebiyatın milli bir kimlik inşa etme ve dönem ideolojisinin öğretilerini halkın her kesimine yayma konusunda işlevsel bir tür olduğunu saptadım. İlk yerli örnekler olarak incelenen popüler edebiyat eserlerinin ise bu amaca hizmet etmek adına çeviri yoluyla yazılan eserler olduğunu tespit ettim. Bu çalışmada telif kavramını özgün kavramının eş anlamlısı olarak kullanmak yerine edebiyat geleneğimizde var olan bir çeviri yollu yazma yöntemi olarak ele aldım. Araştırma bulgularını Osmanlı dönemi ve Cumhuriyet’in ilk yıllarında çeviri yoluyla yazma anlamına gelen “telif” kavramı çerçevesinde tartıştım ve çalışma kapsamında Türk popüler edebiyat türünün ilk örneklerinden olan bahsi geçen eserlerin telif edilerek üretildiğini, bir diğer değişiyle, çeviri yoluyla yazıldığını saptadım.
The aim of this study is to explore how the first indigenous popular literary products in the Turkish literary series were written through translation and what their functions were in the period in which they were printed. The first examples of police, horror and cartoon types in our literary series, the Turkish Sherlock Holmes Amanvermez Avni (1913-1914), Kazıklı Voyvoda (1928) and Baytekin (1935-1936) formed the research objects of this study. These selected works have begun to be mentioned by adaptation or imitation concepts due to their similarities with Western popular literary works. Moving from the idea that every translation is a rewrite and reflects a particular ideology, I studied the works mentioned in this study in the context of the period conditions in which they were published in the context of the "translation" concept. In my research, I found that popular literature is a functional kind of building a national identity and spreading the teachings of periodic ideology to every section of the people. I found that the popular literary works that were studied as the first indigenous examples were works written through translation in order to serve this purpose. In this study, instead of using the authoritarian concept as the equivalent of the original concept, I looked at it as a translation way writing method that exists in our literary tradition. I discussed the research findings in the framework of the concept of "telif" which means writing through translation in the early years of the Ottoman period and the Republic, and in the framework of the study I found that the mentioned works, which are the first examples of the Turkish popular literature genre, were produced by telifying, with another change, written through translation.
