The increase in obesity rates have concerned major medical institutions, this growth has proven to be uniform throughout the world since the 1980s after drastic changes in lifestyle. The aim of this study was to evaluate the body mass index, abdominal circumference, along with nutrition and athletic profile of professors of a college and correlate these factors. The anthropometric profile was measured by height measurements, body weight and abdominal circumference, following the rules of ABESO. It was also applied a questionnaire to assess the frequency of nutrition and physical activity. The rates of overweight was 48.15% and obesity was 11.11%; abdominal circumference was increased to 44.44% of the sample; high abdominal circumference was observed more in women than men, 58% and 33% respectively, 74% of the sample engage in exercise, all individuals fed onvegetables; 63% did not consume alcoholic beverages; 48% consumed fatty meats and 74% consumed fried foods. The rate of obesity and overweight were similar to other studies conducted in the Brazilian population, some dietary factors showed they did not follow the standards expected of obesity and overweight, including the consumption of alcoholic drinks, candy and red meat; while factors like consumption of fried and fatty meats showed a positive correlation.
