Abstract:

Spontaneous pneumothorax is a life-threatening pathology which occurs rarely during pregnancy. Diagnosis, treatment, follow-up of pregnancy and also the timing and mode of delivery are all problems and important for maternal-fetal outcomes. A 26-years-old gravida 2, para 1 woman presented at 12th gestational week to our hospital with the complaints of chest pain and dyspnea. The patient had a history of spontaneous pneumothorax occurred in a previous pregnancy during delivery. Chest X-ray and Torax MR has revealed the presence of acute pneumothorax of the left lung. A tube thoracostomy was then performed. Cesarean section was performed under spinal anesthesia. The patient was discharged from the hospital postoperative 6th day without complication or recurrence. Despite spontaneous pneumothorax to be very rare in pregnancy, especially where there is high risk of recurrence in patients with spontaneous pneumothorax previous history, a spontaneous pneumothorax must be considered in pregnant women who present with complaints of chest pain and dyspnea
