Mentoring that progressive meaning and importance with together modern ages in educational management, control and in job training field is to describe a personal relationship between client's who less experienced or knowledgeable on behalf of personal and professional development and mentor who more knowledgeable or experienced acting as consultant, the teachers, role model. This rewiev article performed to overview of the concept and the role of mentoring competency, the existing practices in higher education. Many countries’s universities shows that formal mentoring program implementation in the world. Mentoring in our country is trying to apply under the name of "consultants" and each student is assigned a faculty advisor. The relationship between students and their consultants should be mentoring relationship including consultancy concept. Studies of mentoring show the importance of was determined that academic advancement for students, leadership development, the development of training and teaching skills, included in the academic community and the development in orientation educator role, the continuation of the career development and qualified teaching staff retention. As a result, it is under consideration that the first in settling of mentoring culture into universities and then teaching staff must have certain mentoring competency for increase the quality of higher education.
