Abstract:

This study aims to reveal the effects of cold war-specific dynamics in political and public speeches developed by the center-right in the context before 1980. The center-right party and movement focused on the time limit of the study between 1960 and 1980 is the Justice Party. The AP, especially in the second half of the 1960s, where it was in power alone, carried the traces of economic development and the flexible balance policy of central right. In the 1970s, it was American 6. The arrival of its fleet to Turkish ports and the rise of the anti-Americanism wave around the Cyprus issue have given new dimensions to the operation in the political field. During this period, the protest organizations that began in the youth of the left wing, and in the young generations of the Turkish right, the end movements won. The new ideological favour lines, which were increasingly moving, opened the channels of power to the left-wing politics around Ecevit. At the end of this process, the style of politics of the AP is also pulled towards sharp ideological lines. In this direction, anti-communism created a central dynamic in the public speech and policies of the AP elites. At the same time, the cultural policies opened to Islamization and nationalism with AP’s new stakeholders in the “National Front Governments” have gained profoundity in this transformation.
