Bu araştırmada, 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin “Besinlerimiz” ünitesinin “Sağlıklı Yaşam” konusunun STEAM etkinlikleri ile 5E modeline uygun olarak öğretimine ilişkin örnek bir uygulama sunulması ve bu uygulama neticesinde öğrencilerin STEAM etkinlikleri hakkındaki görüşlerinin ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Tarama modelinde betimsel bir çalışma şeklinde yürütülen araştırma, 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim yılının güz döneminde gerçekleştirilmiştir. STEAM etkinliklerine yönelik gerçekleştirilen uygulama Türkiye'deki bir köy okulunun 4. sınıfında öğrenim gören sekiz öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen beş adet açık uçlu soru aracılığıyla yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlar ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz yoluyla iki farklı araştırmacı tarafından eş zamanlı ancak farklı ortamlarda analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları incelendiğinde öğrencilerin etkinlikleri eğlenceli buldukları, beğendikleri ve fen bilimleri dersindeki diğer konuların da STEAM etkinliği ile yapılmasını istedikleri görülmektedir. STEAM etkinliklerinin öğrenciler üzerinde iş birliği içinde çalışma, aktif katılım sağlama, öğrendikleri bilgileri transfer etme, ürün oluşturma, gündelik problemlerine çözüm bulma gibi olumlu ve kalıcı bir etki bıraktığı düşünülmektedir. Bu nedenle 1. sınıftan ve hatta okul öncesi eğitimden itibaren STEAM uygulamalarına diğer dersler içinde de yapılması gerektiği önerilebilir
In this study, it was aimed to present a sample application and to determine the views of 4th grade primary school students about the teaching of “Healthy Life” issue in “Our Foods” topic through STEAM activities in accordance with 5E model. The study, which is a descriptive study in a survey method, was conducted in the 2019-2020 academic year. Research was carried out in Turkey of a village school with 8 students in the 4th grade. Five open-ended questions prepared by the researchers were used to collect the data by semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed by two different researchers in accordance with the descriptive analysis steps at different times. When the findings of the research were examined, it was seen that the students found the activities enjoyable; they liked the activities and wanted other subjects in the science course to be done with the STEAM activity. STEAM activities have a positive and lasting impact on the students, such as working in collaboration, active participation, transferring the information they have learned, creating products, finding solutions to their daily problems. For this reason, it can be suggested that STEAM applications can be started for other courses starting from 1st grade or preschool
