The modernization movements emerging in the 18th century in the Ottomon Empire continues in the early period of Turkish Republic. The institutional, structural changes in the public sphere starting from the Tanzimat Period -in the context of continuity and disconnection -and reforms preceded the urban planning/ urbanization during the early Republican period (1923-1938). The city and the provinces, which are planned in accordance with Kemalist ideology, build the national identity and construct citizenship through the public sphere. The urban space reshaped with political, social and economic tendencies is produced, and the effort of producing mental connotations within this space coincides with secular Kemalist ideology. The aim here is to point out how the changes in all fields are reflected in the cities within connection of Kemalist ideology since its emergence.
